Grupo B: las bestias del Mundial de Rally - Montdebó

Group B: the beasts of the World Rally Championship

Group B of the World Rally Championship (1982-1986) was a short but intense period marked by danger and, therefore, a spectacular appeal that attracted the masses. From this era come the legendary images of the championship in which, rather than a motorsport event, they seemed to be taken from a stage of the Tour de France.

A brilliant era in terms of sport, popularity, and technology, but one that had indelible shadows as a consequence of a quasi-savage danger that caused fatal accidents leading to its prohibition.

From this now legendary era of motorsport are the cars I wanted to capture in the design of this sweatshirt. All those who competed in Group B would deserve their place in the spotlight, but due to their spectacular nature and legendary character, I have chosen three: the Audi Sport Quattro S1, the Renault 5 Turbo, and the Lancia Delta S4.

Three icons, three automotive beasts, which, like extinct animals in the wild (of motorsport), today we can only contemplate them in "captivity," in museums or historical races, or through videos and photographs of the era.

I have placed the three on the back of the sweatshirt, with their respective names. However, as a culmination to this design, I have decided to place my favorite of them all on the left chest, along with the Montdebó logo: the Audi Quattro S1, an icon of this generation, which was driven by one of my idols, the incredible Michèle Mouton.

A sweatshirt, in a beautiful turquoise blue, with which I hope you will remember and honor the men and women who tried to tame the wildest and most dangerous automotive beasts that have ever existed.
